How many times have you found yourself standing in the queue for airport security, desperately chugging down a bottle of water to avoid it being confiscated?
At most UK airports, liquids in containers larger than 100ml can’t be taken through security.
That means your well-planned tactics to stay hydrated while flying could go awry before you’ve even boarded the plane.
But now, a seasoned traveller has revealed a clever hack that will let you take a full bottle of water through airport security.
All you have to do is freeze your bottle.
A video from @globetrotadventures on Instagram has shared the tactic, among other advice for travellers.
She explains: ‘These are travel hacks no one talks about. First off, I know a lot of people don’t know this but you can actually take a whole bottle of water through security – only if it is frozen.
‘It’s because ice is solid. All you have to do is freeze the water before you leave for the airport and before you hit security, just drink whatever has melted.

‘To me personally, I think that’s the biggest hack ever.’
The traveller shared other tips too, captioning the video: ‘These travel hacks will change the way you fly! Freeze your water, track hotel security, snag the best airplane seat & more! Don’t miss out – save this for your next trip!’
The second trick she shared was a method to check if anyone has entered your hotel room without permission.
Simply tape a strand of hair to the bottom of the door frame, and if someone has been inside you’ll see the strand broken when you return.
The next tip? Getting a great plane seat.
She explains: ‘Ask for the aisle seat and be the last person to enter the plane. Now that you’re the last person to enter, you’ll get to see all the empty seats on the plane.’
You might, then, be able to select a seat – and even stand a chance of getting a row to yourself.
