Most people associate Uber with cars – but now the taxi service app is set to introduce a nautical feature.
UK travellers heading to southern Europe this summer can now hitch a wave, as boat rental service Click&Boat and Uber have launched a new collaboration allowing users to book boats.
The service will allow users to hire boats through the boat symbol on the Uber app in several coastal destinations across Europe.
Users will be able to select a vessel from a curated fleet of around 4,000 boats, completing their booking via the Click&Boat platform to enjoy a seamless experience with a skipper included.
Launching from mid-June until October, it will be available across more than 20 coastal cities in Spain, France, Italy, Croatia and Portugal, giving holidaymakers easier access to on-demand boating experiences throughout the Mediterranean.
The announcement was made at Uber’s GO-GET 2026 event in New York, where the company outlined its broader ambition to become a one-stop travel platform.
According to the platform, Sardinia is also seeing strong growth in popularity among UK clients, with Click&Boat reporting a 43.4 per cent increase in bookings from 2024 to 2025, highlighting rising interest in more remote and scenic Mediterranean destinations.
Christian Berces, CEO at Click&Boat, said: ‘We are pleased to collaborate with Uber to make boating experiences more accessible to holidaymakers across southern Europe.
Uber has launched a new boating service in conjunction with rental platform Click&Boat
‘In the past year, 93 per cent of our UK bookings have been for trips lasting less than a day, highlighting strong demand for short-term rentals and making Uber a natural partner to expand access to on-demand boating.
‘Croatia has emerged as one of the most popular destinations among UK travellers, while locations such as Sardinia are also seeing significant growth, with bookings from UK travellers increasing by 43.4 per cent between 2024 and 2025.
‘While we will be trialling in these areas, there is scope to expand beyond the 60 destinations selected.
‘Our move reflects a broader shift in travel in the experience economy, with younger travellers seeking unique moments and activities that will also make good social content.
‘Many islands, coves and coastal areas remain inaccessible by land, and this partnership offers a more flexible way to reach them, without the commitment of a full-day charter or the cost of traditional excursions.’
Founded in 2013, Click&Boat is a leading boat rental platform.
With a fleet of over 55,000 boats across more than 100 countries, the company enables both individuals and professionals to enjoy seamless sailing experiences worldwide.
It’s not the only update Uber has seen in recent times.

Last month, it announced it will soon launch commercial robotaxi services.
Services are expected to launch in the San Francisco Bay Area later this year, as Hertz and Uber explore expansion opportunities in 2027.
Uber’s autonomous robotaxi program of Lucid vehicles will provide day-to-day vehicle management, including charging, maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and depot staffing.
Plus, Uber revealed it could soon offer chauffer services – as it has acquired Blacklane, an independent local chauffeur services booking platform.
Founded in Berlin, Germany in 2011, Blacklane connects guests worldwide with local chauffeur services via an app and web booking platform.
Today, Blacklane operates in more than 500 cities across more than 60 countries.
It has grown to be the chauffeur service of choice for travellers and executives of many of the world’s leading corporations.
It comes after Uber also introduced Uber Elite, designed for executives, frequent travellers and riders looking for a more elevated experience.
Every Elite trip is powered by commercially licensed professional chauffeurs, with new-model luxury vehicles – less than three years old – for a polished, high-touch experience from pickup to drop-off.
Riders can book through Uber Reserve, in the Uber app, and through the Uber for Business delegate booking feature – a perfect solution for busy riders who need help managing their travel schedules with support from an executive assistant.
Elite rides can be booked at least one hour in advance and up to 90 days ahead.
