The UK’s ‘tallest, fastest and most weightless’ rollercoaster is almost ready for thrill-seekers to climb aboard and ride.
Video footage shows the final piece of track being lifted into place for Thorpe Park’s ‘Hyperia’, a ‘state-of-the-art thrill ride’ with record-breaking specs.
This week, after months of construction, a 500-tonne crane helped lift the 92nd and final piece of track into place to complete the 995.4m- (3,265ft) long ride, which reaches a height of 236ft (71m) and speeds of over 80mph (128kph).
The Surrey-based theme park claims thrill seekers will ‘twist like never before’ and ‘feel weightless’ aboard the new ride.
Designed by the Senior Creative Lead, John Burton, the coaster features three inversions including a dive loop, a non-inverted Immelmann (a form of roll-loop) and a stall loop – this is where riders will be held upside down for a longer period.

Once opened, Hyperia will de-throne Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s ‘The Big One’ as the UK’s tallest rollercoaster – which is 213 feet (64m) tall
Not stopping there, it also features a splashdown element where riders will descend and glide over the lake below whilst experiencing water effects.
Construction started at the end of the 2023 season, with Hyperia taking over 5,292 man-hours to assemble to date.
The ride is due to open in Spring 2024. Once opened, it will de-throne Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s ‘The Big One’ as the UK’s tallest roller coaster – which is 213 feet (64m) tall.
