Utah – 2 Week Travel Vlog & Guide

Utah is a different planet! What a fun place to travel. Here is what we did during our 2.5 weeks in Utah!

A lot of people ask us how we are able to travel full time and support our lifestyle financially. Well, we invested the majority of our money in our 20s into real estate – more specifically short term rentals (Airbnb properties) and we became financially free at age 28 and officially quit out corporate jobs FOR GOOD! I know teach this to help others achieve financial freedom, so they can spend their time doing what makes THEM happy every day! See below for resources to learn how you can achieve financial freedom!

Utah is…. Amazing!

Where we went and what we did…

– Moab, Canyonlands and Arches
Moab is such a cool town! This place is a little bowl in a valley of the desert! It is HOT! Canyonlands was beautiful, but somewhat underwhelming compared to the Grand Canyon. Arches was awesome! Definitely recommend getting up for sunrise to beat the crowds and watch the sun come up! In Moab, we did a UTV adventure tour, which was honestly one of the top highlights of our trip thus far! Highly recommend!

– Monument Valley
Monument Valley is a pretty drive – NOT much else going on here! This is the famous location, where Forest Gump STOPPED running and said “I think I’ll go home now” Of course, we did a reenactment of this scene, which was super fun! LOL

– Lake Powell
We did a pit stop at Lake Powell – one of the most famous and beautiful desert lakes in the country. The water is quite low at the moment due to a drought. The lake is beautiful though! If your travel here during the summer, beware – it is HOT. I recommend doing a house boat or kayaking around the lake. If Lower Antelope Canyon is open and operating by Navajo Nation – 100% do this tour – it is one of my fondest memories!

If you do happen to stop by the lake, definitely allocated an hour or two to go see Horseshoe Bend! This is one of the most iconic photos in America!

– Zion National Park
Zion is one of my all time favorite parks and places to visit. The park is MOBBED with tourists and you can only access the main viewpoints and hikes via the shuttle system. I recommend (honestly a MUST) getting there early. The first shuttle departs at 6am. Get there NO LATER than 5:30. The masses show up between 6-7 AM. We were on the 3rd shuttle each day we were there and we beat the crowds on both Angel’s Landing and The Narrows – the two most iconic hikes in Zion. Angel’s Landing… Honestly – not that scary at all. People make this out to be terrifying.. I’m not a huge fan of heights, and it didn’t bother me one bit. The views are AMAZING! GET THERE EARLY for this. On our hike down, there were HUNDREDS of people and it made it less enjoyable. Getting there early allows you to really enjoy the views and hike without navigating a ton of people. Same thing goes for the Narrows – get there early AND make sure to rent water shoes and a stick… We didn’t think it was necessary, but rented them anyways and it made the world of a difference! We had barely any people around us the way out, but the way back…. was mobbed by hundreds, if not thousands of people. Again, make it more enjoyable and have an early wake up call.

– Bryce Canyon
You can do Bryce in one day. I’d recommend Peek-a-Boo Loop trail. You can see the Hoo-Doos from the top and bottom of the canyon. It is BEAUTIFUL. Also, I recommend going early in the AM – the weather is much more bearable.

– Grand Staircase Escalante
This place is too huge to see everything. It is HOT and full of desert dust. We only stayed two days here and we did the slot canyons – Peek-a-boo and Spooky slot canyons – wicked cool! Highly recommend. Make sure you bring water and proper hiking shoes!

– Capitol Reef
Cooler than I expected, but not as amazing as the other parks in Utah, to be honest. You can do this park in a day! There are a few hikes to do. Definitely stop by and buy a few small pies at the local shop! They have been harvesting fruit from orchards in the valley for a LONG TIME and have been making freshly baked pies, daily for forever. Delicious snack!

– Salt Lake City
Super fun city. This is a growing city, with so much adventure within a short driving distance all around! You can go paddle boarding or boating at the local reservoirs, mountain biking in so many locations, hiking trails everywhere, and of course, you have world class skiing and snowboarding at Park City, which is a short drive (30-45 minutes) from Salt Lake City.

Utah is an AMAZING place to visit. I HIGHLY recommend to anybody seeking adventure!..(read more)
