Renowned for its glamour and luxury, Nobu has a collection of swanky Japanese fusion restaurants and hotels around the world – but its latest venture will be much closer to home.
The celebrity favourite is set to open a ‘first-of-its-kind concept for the brand’ with a hotel, restaurant and residences right in the heart of the East Midlands.
Located on 185 acres of English countryside in Rutland, the new spot is being developed in partnership with Woolfox Members Club – a luxury lifestyle society.
The site will be the ‘future home of Nobu Woolfox,’ according to its website.
Bringing a nature-led retreat to the company’s portfolio, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy being surrounded by beautiful landscapes.
There will be lake view rooms and suites to choose from, as well as a signature Nobu restaurant, bar and a spa.
It’s hoped that visitors immerse themselves in ‘a slower, more restorative pace’ during their stay.

‘This is a truly special location in the heart of England, surrounded by rolling historic landscapes and quintessential English countryside,’ Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality said to EuroNews.
‘For the first time within our portfolio, we have the opportunity at Nobu Woolfox to create a special countryside retreat experience – one that offers all the hallmarks of Nobu, but in a setting defined by nature, tranquility, and a sense of escape.
‘We look forward to working closely with Woolfox to envision and curate a truly distinctive English countryside retreat.’
Rutland is the smallest county in England and is known for its rolling hills and picturesque countryside villages.
The retreat is a 45-minute drive from Peterborough, just under an hour from Leicester, and just over an hour from Nottingham.
The new Nobu will also be near Stamford, a Georgian town which is often compared to the Cotswolds because of its beauty and charm.
Nobu was created by Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper, and each establishment is immaculately decorated, taking inspiration from its location.
There is only one other Nobu Hotel in the UK – London Portman Square – a luxury lifestyle site located in Marylebone.

‘Experience Nobu’s iconic cuisine and renowned hospitality where Japanese minimalism meets London’s cosmopolitan culture,’ the site reads.
Guests can book a range of suites and bedrooms, including the Saijoukai Suite, which is a spacious top-floor abode that has a lounge area as well as dining space and a private balcony.
In June, the suite is priced from around £2,000 a night, based on one adult.
The Nobu Penthouse is even more luxurious, and is described as the ‘ultimate accommodation’ at the hotel.
Guests can lounge between two king-size beds and enjoy time in a lounge area, dining room and a large terrace.
Prices for a stay between June and July come to around £3,200 a night, for one adult booking.
There was another Nobu Hotel in London, Nobu Shoreditch, which opened back in 2017 and was the first in the UK.
It went on to change hands however, and since last year has been operated by a Swiss hospitality lifestyle brand.
Now called Aethos London Shoreditch pitches itself as a ‘refined yet relaxed stay’ for those wanting to explore the city.
