The world’s biggest nightclub is set to open in Ibiza next year – with capacity for a small town’s worth of people.
UNVRS, pronounced ‘universe’, will take over the premises of a former ‘superclub’ and boast floorspace covering 6,500 square metres (69,940 sq ft).
That’s the same size as Fulham’s Craven Cottage premier league football pitch.
The previous club on the site welcomed up to 10,000 clubbers at once, but the newly revamped UNVRS will have room for up to 15,000 club-goers at a time – that’s the population of Llandudno in Wales, and around 2,000 more than the seaside town of Whitby, in Yorkshire.
The residents of Rye, in East Sussex, could cram into UNVRS three times over… and still have room to spare for 680 friends to join them.
Pre-transformation the club offered a huge central arena with a swimming pool and 25-metre-high (82ft) ceilings, plus several additional open-air rooms offering a club experience far beyond the norm.
To tease its opening, UNVRS enlisted the help of Hollywood actor Will Smith.
He features in a social media campaign where the Men in Black star claims to have witnessed a UFO sighting and felt ‘obliged to investigate’, appearing on the club’s rooftop above its distinctive dome with club owner Yann Pissenem.

Known for managing the iconic venues Ushuaia and HI Ibiza, Yan Pissenem, CEO of The Night League – the group behind the renovation of UNVRS – told Billboard: ‘Hyperclub is the next evolution in global nightlife. Imagine seeing your favourite artists in a space that offers the best elements of a club, the infrastructure of an arena, and the best hospitality in the world.’
According to the HI Ibiza website, UNVRS will be ‘a never-before-seen concept in nightlife entertainment’.
The UNVRS premises was home to Privilege in the 1970s, the world’s largest club at the time, before it transformed into Ku Club in the 1980s, known for its hedonistic open-air parties that welcomed Grace Jones (a frequent guest), Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet to the stage.
Although no official opening date has been set, the club’s website says it will ‘welcome everyone to our new universe in 2025’.
