It may not be somewhere people are wanting to travel to at the moment, but Dubai is continuing its streak of world firsts with a newly opened women-only beach.
Women can now relax, swim and enjoy top-tier amenities in a completely camera-free environment at Al Mamzar Beach, providing female residents and tourists with an exclusive, private seaside retreat.
Earlier this month, Dubai Municipality inaugurated the Khor Al Mamzar beach project, marking a major milestone in the broader AED 500 million (£100m) Al Mamzar Beaches Initiative, launched under Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Spanning 2.75 million square feet, the beach is a key component of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to completely transform the UAE coastline and draw over seven million visitors a year.
New upgrades include 24-hour night swimming supervised by lifeguards, the region’s first floating walkway, enhanced fitness and sports amenities, and the women-only beach.
The new all-female zone offers a dedicated space surrounded by robust fencing, with gated access points that separate the area from other parts of Al Mamzar.
The beach is staffed entirely by women, including specialised lifeguards and security guards.

AI-powered monitoring systems and strict no-photography rules – including the use of cameras and recording devices – are also in place to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors.
Women can visit accompanied by their children, though boys over six are generally not permitted. Men are strictly prohibited at all times.
Elsewhere across Al Mamzar, the swimming area has more than doubled, with a shoreline of 3.6km and a total beachfront area now spanning 182,000 square metres.
Other new developments include a 300-metre stretch of beach designed specifically for night swimming, as reported by Emirates 24/7.
The area – now fitted with lifeguard towers, high-intensity floodlighting, and 12 emergency call points – will be manned by lifeguards and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Another key addition in the Al Mamzar area is a first-of-its-kind floating walkway, which allows visitors to walk above the water surface between the Lagoon and Corniche, with views of the waterscape and Dubai skyline.
Runners and cyclists also have access to exclusive lanes that form a 5.5km continuous loop.
Improved infrastructure also features newly opened padel courts and dedicated outdoor gym spaces, plus rental zones that provide access to jet skiing, kayaking, flyboarding, and paddle boating.

The area also features a range of restaurants and beachfront cafes, such as FiLLi Cafe and Khoori Special Kabab Restaurant, as well as sheltered children’s playgrounds, grassy areas for picnics, and air-conditioned rented chalets.
Elsewhere in Dubai, the UAE city announced plans to build the world’s first street made of real gold as part of its new Dubai Gold District in Deira.
The project is set to strengthen the city’s long-standing reputation as the ‘City of Gold,’ home to the famous Dubai Gold Souk.
The new Gold Street will be a central attraction in the new district, designed to draw tourists, shoppers and industry professionals.
The Dubai Gold District, launched by developer Ithra Dubai, will feature more than 1,000 retailers across gold, jewellery, perfumery, cosmetics and lifestyle sectors.
