At the heart of an island paradise – nestled in the South Pacific between Australia and South America – lies a dream destination that draws celebrities and the very wealthiest of travelers.
Who else could afford the exclusive price tag of $26,000 a night to stay there?
The Four Seasons Bora Bora has welcomed guests including Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Kimmel, Chelsea Handler, Justin Bieber, Shayne Lamas, Courtney Cox and Jason Bateman according to Celebmagazine.com.
And it’s not hard to see why. From the moment guests step off the plane, they’re cocooned in a world of luxury, exclusivity, and seclusion.
A private boat picks them up at the airport and whisks them straight to the resort.
Once there, they are escorted – on a smaller boat – to their extremely private overwater bungalows, suspended above the crystal blue lagoon and surrounded by cloud-capped mountains.
The white sand beaches are freshly raked, lest someone else’s footprints remind you that – gasp! – other people can also afford this level of luxury.
But all that staggering splendor comes at a price – the average cost for a room at the resort is a whopping $4,009 per night, with some stays reaching $26,000 per night. So, what do you get for these eye-watering prices?

Four Seasons Bora Bora sits on a private motu, or small island, just off the main island, offering guests unparalleled seclusion and stunning views of the turquoise lagoon. It’s a snorkeler’s paradise, filled with fish and rays, partly due to the resort’s coral nursery – a protected area where the water is crystal clear.
There’s also a small, even more private island a few hundred yards from the beach, popular with romantic couples getting married at the resort.
Each overwater bungalow is a private oasis, complete with infinity pool and outdoor shower. If you’d prefer to take the plunge into the azure waters of the lagoon, there’s no need to go far: a ladder from your terrace drops straight down into the water.
Inside, they’re decorated in a modern Polynesian style, with local wood and stone … and glass panels on the floor to watch the fish swim by.
Room service is brought to the villa by a traditional Tahitian boat.
The resort’s most well-heeled guests opt for even more opulence – in the 5,380 square foot beachfront estates, complete with three bedrooms, private infinity pool, private beach (with BBQ), personal assistant, customized bar stock and a personal Polynesian show.

If you want to venture a little further, a fleet of golf carts is at the ready to swoop you off to wherever you want to go on the island. Ask nicely, and one driver might even serenade you with the ukulele.
Don’t expect those prices to include food, however. The resort’s signature restaurant, Arii Moana, offers a gourmet, three-course dining experience that costs on average $150 per person. To really lean in to the lap of luxury, many desserts and breakfast tarts are decorated in edible gold flakes.
Alternatively, take a 45-minute boat ride to the town of Bora Bora and sample the local cuisine.
Traveling with a baby? The Four Seasons doesn’t just provide complimentary cribs – you can expect to find children’s toys and a diaper pail, so the smell of used diapers doesn’t sully the tropical scent wafting through the air.
It’s hard to put a price on all of that.
The feeling of a warm gust of tropical wind splashing your face with delicate sprinkles of rain from a nearby storm is priceless. And you can’t take a picture of the low, rumbling sounds of thunder mixed with small waves lapping against the pillars that support your overwater bungalow.
So, is Four Seasons Bora Bora worth the insane prices? That’s up to you to decide. But one thing is for sure, a stay at this resort is definitely not for the light of wallet.
