Inside all the filming locations used in the Devil Wears Prada 2 you can visit – including a fashion-forward destination with £29 flights

‘Oh, don’t be ridiculous. Everybody wants this. Everybody wants to be us.’

These words, spoken by the cold-hearted Miranda Priestly in the original Devil Wears Prada movie, didn’t just apply to the fashionista lifestyle portrayed – but also the glamorous, often ultra-luxe, destinations featured in the film.

The first time round, the destinations showcased on the big screen included New York City, where Priestly’s Runway Magazine is based, as well as the ever-chic French capital of Paris.

Two decades on, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to be released in UK cinemas next week and fashion and film fans have some familiar and new destinations to enjoy.

From townhouses located in NYC’s most coveted neighbourhoods to Italian villas and even a foray into the world’s fashion capital, the locations used in the new movie, starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Anne Hathaway, are enough to inspire any avid fan to book a one-way flight faster than you can say, ‘That’s all’.

Here, the Daily Mail takes a look at some of the filming spots where the cast of the new release, in cinemas on May 1, have been spotted – to inspire your next holiday, perhaps, dahling?

NEW YORK CITY Midtown Manhattan

Woman on a mission: Anne Hathaway, who plays Andy Sachs, seen on the movie set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in New York in July 2025

Relaxed: The film’s central star was pictured at a range of destinations in Midtown Manhattan – many of which travellers can visit

Where better to start than in New York City, perhaps the place the most synonymous with The Devil Wears Prada franchise?

Members of the sequel’s cast were spotted in Midtown Manhattan during filming, with a key scene set to take place at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, a Rockefeller Group building where tenants range from NBCUniversal to Chipotle.

Instagram user @nyclovesnyc captured fans watching the filming last year, writing: ‘Armed with their smartphones, New Yorkers and tourists caught a glimpse of the filming of the movie “The Devil Wears Prada 2” on 49th Street (1221 Sixth Avenue) today.’

And while visitors might be less interested in the skyscraper office block itself, there’s plenty to do in the area. Nearby, you’ll find Radio City Music hall, the Museum of Modern Art, the Rockefeller plaza and Times Square.

Madison Square Park, Manhattan

Big Apple: Anne Hathaway was seen filming ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ in Madison Square Park

By all means, move at a glacial pace: Hathaway strolls through Madison Square Park

Plenty of beady-eyed fans spotted the cast of the film in Madison Square Park last August too.

One shared clips of Anne Hathaway strolling through the area in a grey suit, captioning the Facebook post: ‘They filmed this The Devil Wears Prada 2 scene eight times in NYC. Shot with real traffic as she crossed the street.’

Clearly, the filming captures many authentic features of the bustling metropolis, from busy streets to iconic yellow taxis.

The park is often considered ‘one of the hidden gems of Midtown Manhattan’, Tripadvisor says, far more under-the-radar than Central Park.

At certain times of the year, it is home to many cherry blossoms, drawing in visitors seeking a taste of Japan in the US.

Central Park

Dynamic duo: Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci strolled through the city’s Central Park in what appears to be a rather sombre scene

Perhaps more famous, though, is Central Park – which also serves as the backdrop to scenes in the new film.

Dressed in all black, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci strolled through the park – prompting speculation that the new film will feature a funeral scene.

Central Park has long been considered a highlight of New York City, with tourists flocking to the green haven in their hordes.

It’s also famous for its horse and carriage tours – and has featured in New York-set films and series ranging from Friends to Night At The Museum and When Harry Met Sally.

Long Island Bar in Brooklyn, New York City

Chic: The Long Island Restaurant and Bar on Atlantic Avenue is a popular haunt

Beloved Brooklyn establishment Long Island Bar has long been a favourite among residents – and now it’s set to grow in popularity, with scenes filmed in the cool corner spot, with Andy Sachs apparently on a hot date at the venue.

With a glowing neon sign, it regularly makes lists of America’s best cocktail bars.

It’s clearly an unmissable spot, with visitors taking to Google reviews to rave about the food, drink and ambience.

One wrote: ‘Long Island Bar is perfection. The food hits that sweet spot of comforting but inventive, and the drinks flow so easy you lose track of the decade you’re in. Part of me doesn’t even want to write this because I don’t need TikTok mobs storming our neighbourhood gem.’

Another chimed in: ‘All anyone wants to do is fit in at a place like this.’

A third added: ‘This is a bar restaurant in all its glory and vintage style. They definitely run a tight ship with their service, water is always kept full, plates are taken, and service is prompt.’

Clearly, it’s one to add to the NYC bucket list.

SoHo, New York City

‘Is there a reason that my coffee isn’t here? Has she died or something?’ In SoHo, the protagonist of the movie dashed around on errands

Few places are as synonymous with New York as SoHo – and Anne Hathaway was pictured running around in the trendy area during filming.

Storefronts in SoHo look set to feature heavily in the upcoming film, unsurprising perhaps, given the popularity of shopping in the area.

SoHo is full of boutiques, fancy chain stores and high-end art galleries.

‘It’s a real paradise for all shopping lovers out there. It’s not an ordinary shopping district but a whole new experience,’ one Tripadvisor review says.

Another added: ‘There are many attractions in the neighborhood, from cast iron buildings on Greene Street, to many art galleries, to shops with luxury and fashion brands on Spring Street: a must-see in the city.’

Long Island

Starry mansion: Billy Joel’s Centre Island home, also known as Middlesea, features

It’s not just the rich and famous enclaves of New York City that are highlighted in the film, but the vast estates of Long Island, too.

Production was spotted filming at one sprawling $8.3million estate – as well as a former celebrity home.

In Oyster Bay, the former estate of Billy Joel, a 26-acre Middlesea property, recently traded for around $35.75million, features in the film – although it is currently unknown what for.

Hudson Yards, Manhattan

‘Details of your incompetence do not interest me’: Scenes were filmed in Hudson Yards, in Manhattan

Bold and beige: Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were on a mission in the NYC neighbourhood

Naturally, it’s not all about fashion and fun – there is business to be done, too.

Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Anne Hathaway were all captured in work attire at Hudson Yards, New York’s newest neighbourhood and home to more than 100 diverse shops and culinary experiences.

It might not be at the top of the tourist map, but from May 1 the establishment has plenty on offer.

It recently announced its 2026 programming season, with a lineup of free experiences, including live concerts, fitness classes with leading wellness brands and sports watch parties on the 30-foot Big Screen.

There will be food on offer too – with bubble tea from Xing Fu Tang, crepes from Vive Le Crepe, and ice cream from Van Leeuwen.

Plus, there will be a free family film series combining a live interactive concert by Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect, followed by a screening of The Lion King – among other films during the season.

American Museum of Natural History

Main character energy: The American Museum of Natural History served as a key setting

Lady in red: Meryl Streep was dressed to the nines in front of the popular tourist attraction

America’s Museum of Natural History serves as the backdrop to a scene in the upcoming film – and Meryl Streep put on a very glamorous display in long red gown, arm in arm with Stanley Tucci, during filming last year.

The actress, 76, looked sensational in the off the shoulder dress which featured an extravagant neckline and long train.

Meanwhile Stanley looked effortlessly dapper in a classic black tux as he stood by her side as they filmed what appeared to be a glamorous gala scene.

The museum, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, is a popular tourist attraction that visitors to the city often flock to.

According to its official website: ‘The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions.

‘Since its founding in 1869, the museum has advanced its global mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.’

It’s easy to visit, too – with tickets from $22 (£16.30) for children and $37 (£27.40) for adults.

East 73rd Street, New York City

I love my job. I love my job. I love my job: In the East Village, Andy Sachs is ready for another day

Tumble: The Oscar winner, 43, was snapped in New York City as she tripped down the steps

East 73rd Street in Manhattan’s Upper East Side is not just any old road – it’s where fictional character Miranda Priestly lived in the first film.

The swanky townhouse is not just the elite home of the magazine boss – it’s also the site of a rather embarrassing moment for actress Anne Hathaway.

Last year during filming, Anne was  snapped in New York City as she tripped down the front stoop of the building, her left leg bent awkwardly as she hit the ground.

After the incident went viral, she  showed off her trademark humour after taking an unforgettable tumble while filming the highly anticipated sequel.

At first, fans weren’t sure if it was a scripted stunt or a real slip, but Hathaway seemingly confirmed it was the latter when she shared the moment on Instagram the next day.

The neighbourhood has many other townhouses, and was originally built for wealthy residents – as it remains today.

MILAN, ITALY Streets of Milan, Italy

Milan magic: Further afield, film crews took to the streets of Milan

Home of fashion: The streets of the Italian fashion capital feature heavily in the upcoming film

Paris was the exotic destination Miranda, Andy et al jetted off to for the fashion season in the 2006 outing.

This time, the destination of choice is equally stylish Milan.

The highly anticipated sequel had filming in Italy with main stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep all spotted in the city.

It’s hardly a surprise, given the film’s title.

Prada was founded in Milan in 1913, and the original store was located inside one of Milan’s most celebrated icons, the prestigious glass-covered Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade.

Visitors can visit the store today, which ‘has kept its ancient flavour’, according to the Prada website.

There’s good news for Brits, too, as flights in May from London Stansted to Milan start from as little as £14 each way with Ryanair.

Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan, Italy

Cultural quarters: Pinacoteca di Brera served as the backdrop for scenes in the film

The Pinacoteca di Brera is Milan’s main public gallery, with one of Italy’s most significant collections of artworks and paintings.

Parts of the film have been shot at the gallery, with one traveller writing online last year: ‘I serendipitously ended up going to the Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery. The front entrance to the gallery was completely sealed off so scenes for the upcoming “The Devil Wears Prada 2” movie could be filmed.

‘While visual screens were set up to keep the public from viewing the filming and sections of the museum’s exhibits were sealed off, spectators could still see bright lights and camera equipment through the screens. There also were dozens off limousines with blackened windows in the streets surrounding the Brera museum.

‘Museum employees weren’t at liberty to say what all the ruckus was about but one confided “It’s Hollywood!”’

The gallery is also used to celebrity appearances – last year, in celebration of one of the most influential and globally famous designers of the late 20th century, Armani, the courtyard of the Pinacoteca di Brera Museum was lined with candles in an emotional statement during Milan Fashion Week.

Cate Blanchett led the celebrities attending the Armani show in 2025, which was also attended by Vogue’s Global Editorial Director and Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast, Anna Wintour, 76 – who is often thought to have inspired Meryl Streep’s role in the film.

LAKE COMO Villa del Balbiano, Lake Como, Italy

So chic: The beautiful Villa Balbiano in Ossuccio, on Lake Como

The cast of the crew head off to Lake Como – and the trailer shows Andy and Emily (played by Emily Blunt) approaching the majestic Villa Balbiano by boat.

With extensive gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, a private pier and boathouse, it’s an immaculate villa – and not a surprise it features in such a high-fashion film.

According to the Heritage Collection: ‘Situated on the western shore of Lake Como, Villa Balbiano is an awe-inspiring Italian jewel, an exceptional historical palazzo that once belonged to the famous Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, who built it at the end of 16th century and used it as his main residence.’

It added: ‘Inside, its historic interiors have been filled with finest objets d’art and furniture of past centuries, sourced from Sotheby’s and Christie’s.

‘Spectacular 17th century frescoes painted by the Recchi brothers and Agostino Silva still decorate the walls, untouched by time.

‘With its illustrious past, an unparalleled mix of man-made and natural beauty, Villa Balbiano is one of the most glamorous locations on Lake Como.’

Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t come without a cost.

The villa is most commonly booked as a wedding destination, with a one-night stay and two-day event starting from €100,000 (£86,624), according to Home in Italy.

Brienno and Argegno,  Lake Como, Italy

Italian icons: Argegno is one of the Italian villages featured in the blockbuster

As well as the imposing Villa Balbiano, other destinations around Lake Como feature in the film – most notably Brienno and Argegno.

Brienno, situated 20 minutes from Como and about an hour from Milan, is a labyrinthine village with historic stone stairways, narrow streets and a medieval charm.

‘Brienno preserves its origins as a medieval village intact: the stone houses built into the water that look as if suspended over the village of Nesso and its Orrido, the narrow alleys that barely separate the buildings, the stupendous porticoes, stairways and underpasses, make this place a true jewel,’ according to Visit Brienno.

Nearby Argegno, filled with typical Italian restaurants and cafes, is just as much of a gem.

If you’re visiting, be sure to check out the romanesque bridge on the Telo Stream and the Argegno-Pigra cable car.
