Survival Tips For A USA Roller Coaster Road Trip

I’ve put together this list of survival tips for anybody who is thinking of undertaking a North American road trip to tick off those bucket list roller coasters and amusement parks like Cedar Point, Six Flags great Adventure, HersheyPark, Carowinds

Know what you’re getting yourself into, this kind of trip can be exhausting with lots of long drives and walking around large amusement parks.

Put some downtime into your itinerary, allow yourself some time to recover from long drives.

Ensure you have sufficient time for each park, is it a 1, 2 or 3 day park? Don’t try to cram things into one day and regret missing out on attractions. Also try to avoid cramming multiple parks into one day.
Prepare for long days, the USA parks typically open late into the evening which is great for night rides.

Stay over in hotels or accommodation close to the amusement parks. Search engines like Trivago and booking.com will allow you to put the amusement park into the search bar switch to map view to see what’s near by. I recommend booking flexible rate or accommodation that offers “free cancellation” in case plans change last minute then you won’t be out of pocket.

Buddy up and share the driving with somebody if you can, it’s always good to have the option to tag out, if you’re feeling tired. Remember to check the additional driver fee with your car hire supplier before you book.

Look out for Rest Areas and Welcome Centres, which are found along freeways and interstate highways with toilets and vending machines to allow drivers a break.

I’ve got more videos on planning USA road trips coming up in the future including where to start and how to get an itinerary together, please subscribe to the channel to be notified.
