The Bachelor star describes ‘horror flight’ to Ibiza as footage shows terrifying turbulence: ‘I thought my life was over. Everyone screamed, cried, prayed, vomited’

A German reality star from the hit show The Bachelor was on a ‘horror flight’ to Ibiza, during which passengers ‘screamed, cried, prayed and vomited’.

Eva Benetatou, 31, was flying from Hamburg to Ibiza on Sunday with her two-year-old son George Angelos when the Eurowings flight 7514 got caught in a heavy storm over the Balearic Islands.

The reality TV star, who participated in the German version of The Bachelor, took to Instagram yesterday to talk about her horrifying ordeal.

‘It was the worst day of my life. Everything was white outside. We got thrown around and even crashed into the ceiling once. We didn’t know which way was up anymore,’ she said.

Footage taken by another passenger shows the terrifying turbulence that saw passengers fly out of their seats and scream in horror.

Eva said: ‘The whole plane was a write off. You could see where parts were missing. Of course they said the aircraft was fine, but it wasn’t. We could see everything when we got out.’ She also shared messages she received by another passenger, who allegedly stayed in the same hotel as an engineer working on the aircraft, who said the radar failed and then the electricity cut out

Eva added: ‘I thought our life was over. Everyone was screaming, crying, praying and vomiting.’

The flight set off in Hamburg despite storm warnings for Ibiza, where the plane had to ‘circle for more than an hour’, because it didn’t get permission to land during the bad weather conditions.

Another flight also got caught in the storm above the Balearic islands and went through terrifying turbulence.

The mid-air ordeal left passengers fearing for their lives as the plane flew from Alicante in southern Spain to Majorca on Sunday.

A video shows the plane shaking violently as her frightened fellow passengers clung to their seats when the plane shook and dropped – causing people to scream, cry and vomit in what felt like an ‘eternal’ moment.

Areas of north-east Spain, as well as Majorca, were battered by 75mph winds and torrential rain over the weekend, forcing some families to run for their lives and stranding others on the island as flights were cancelled.

She previously worked as a flight attendant for Germanwings and said she had never experienced a ‘horror flight’ like this: ‘I’m traumatised. You can’t imagine how intense that was.

‘I was scared for my life. It was the biggest nightmare.’

After about ten minutes the horror turbulence while flying through the storm over Ibiza was over and the plane headed to nearby Alicante for an emergency landing.

Eva worked as a flight attendant for Germanwings for four years and said she had never experienced a flight like this: ‘I’m traumatised. You can’t imagine how intense that was. I was scared for my life. It was the biggest nightmare’

The aircraft had ‘clearly’ suffered some damage in the storm, Eva claimed.

Eva also shared messages she received by another passenger, who allegedly stayed in the same hotel as an engineer working on the aircraft.

‘He told us the radar failed, so the pilot had no information about the current location anymore and flew straight into the storm.

‘Then the electricity cut out and he had to land the plane manually in Alicante,’ the passenger claims.

Even when the plane touched down safely in Alicante, passengers were left to wait more than 90 minutes until the aircraft was unloaded – in 35 degree heat. Instead of taking a flight from Alicante to Ibiza, she flew back home to Germany with her son, who was so shocked and scared that he didn’t make a peep during the ordeal

Influencer Eva said what happened was ‘irresponsible, traumatic and negligent’ by the airline.

‘I am infinitely grateful that we got home safely. I do not wish this experience on anyone in the world.’

A spokesperson for the airline told German newspaper Bild: ‘There was never any danger to the safety of the passengers and crew on flight EW7514.’
