Travelling during pregnancy is very safe as long as you have no severe complications. However some women prefer not to travel long distance or overseas in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy because of nausea and tiredness.

1. If you are someone travelling by car the first and foremost thing is to have your seatbelts on. While wearing a seatbelt make sure it does not put any pressure on your abdomen or your unborn baby. Also, make sure the lap strap is under your bump, not across your bump. Keep the air circulating in the car. For long drives avoid solo travelling also make sure you take regular breaks in between to avoid cramps and swelling in your legs.

2. If you are someone who travels by bus everyday or train make sure you always remain seated while the its moving. For long journeys keep moving your legs to avoid cramps & swelling or you can do some stretches while seated.

3. For airline travel always check with the airline for its requirements before you book a flight. Some airlines do not allow women more than 35 weeks pregnant to fly.
Carry written documentation of your due date while travelling some airlines require this information. While on a long flight take a few walks or do stretches to increase the blood circulation in your legs.
Make sure to book a seat with extra leg space to make your journey comfortable. Also keep drinking water to avoid dehydration.

Before you leave the first thing is to visit your doc to clear out any travel related concerns.Carry your medical history, a first aid kit & any prescribed medications. Check that you are up to date with your vaccines also find out if health insurance covers pregnancy complications while travelling if not consider buying one.
The travel insurance policy you purchase should cover pregnancy complications as well as emergency medical transport from your chosen destination.
Pay a lot of attention to your Food and drinks when you travel. Avoid foods you are allergic to keep drinking a lot of water and make the healthiest choice in whatever you eat.

4. If you are someone travelling by ship
Make sure a doctor or nurse is on board the ship. Also make sure that your scheduled stops are places with modern medical facilities.
