These are just some of the questions that can turn a time of great anticipation into a window of dread.
Fortunately, a travel vlogger has taken to TikTok to share a list of their favourite travel essentials that could help make your journey that little bit easier.
Posting to her channel on the social media platform, @loulouexplores shared the items that she finds most handy when jetting across the globe.

First up on her list was a universal travel adapter, which contains plug sockets for the UK, EU, USA and Australia, as well as three USB 2.0 ports and a USB C port.
This will help you avoid having to carry a small army of plus and leads everywhere you go, sacrificing tangled cables for one efficient piece of kit.
Loulou’s next tip involved an efficient way of making extra space for your carry-on items if you have purchased anything that cannot fit into your rucksack or hold-all at airports.
She shows a compact wallet with numerous pockets that helps to fit keeps your hands free and your items neatly and safely stored around the handle of a case.
Thirdly, Loulou sights an inflatable neck pillow as something she cannot live without on plane journeys.
The travel vlogger says it ‘only takes 30 second to blow up with the built-in pump and stays nice and clean thanks to the bag it comes in.
Her final piece of equipment is one that will be music to the ears of disorganised packers.
Instead of just cramming your clothes in at the last minute and hoping for the best, Loulou advises travellers to invest in packing cubes, so that you can simply and easily organise everything you need.
These will also save you the hassle of having to unpack and assign different clothing items once you reach your destination.
